This is my entry for the #ToyBoxJam 2020! The idea is that we're given specific sprites to make a game with in Pico-8 in less than 2 and 1/2 weeks. I made this in one week. It's a simple platformer. Have fun!

📕Story📕

You are Ninjoe, a ninja from Meadow Village. One day, your friend Adam falls ill with an unknown illness.

I know that Mac doesn't like to give the game permissions so you may want to check and make sure you OS isn't blocking it. Other than that the only thing I've seen is occasionally there is seems to be an issue with NWjs (the shell that the game uses) where it gets stuck and you have to force close it before you can try running it again.

The village elder suggests you journey to acquire the Golden Goblet of Legend, said to cure those who drink from it of any and all sickness!

The elder claims the goblet is located in an underground palace engulfed by the Primeval Forest.

Nice simple platform game. I liked the level design, level had varied challenges so the game didn't run out of ideas. I especially liked the maze-like areas with the smaller blocks--a nice change of pace. If I would suggest adding anything it would be good to have a smoother transition or delay after you die, maybe have the camera pan back to the respawn point before the player reappears or something. Still, cool little game :)

thanks , i found it just after posting the question !

nice game

is it possible to get through the maze bit in the forest ? i cant find a way through ..

Core breakdown! mac os. Yes, there's a secret passageway you can enter. It's entrance to it is near the fire.

To get the good ending, you need to beat the game quickly enough. By quickly enough, I mean in under 3 minutes. Good luck!

Misery is best played in the dark with headphones on. It is a horror styled adventure game where the player must find out what happened to the locals of their village one night after they mysteriously disappear.

(WARNING there are some flickering/flashing lights.)

This demo is for my personal portfolio project. It is called Misery and it is a first-person turned based survival horror game. I am creating this game inside of Unreal Engine and the design, scripting, and some of the odds and ends are done by me. I use a lot of free customized assets from the marketplace. Many things are subject to change and more than likely they will. The game is missing some features, opening cutscenes, etc. but those will hopefully be added at a later date. I just wanted to finally get something in the hands of players. Currently the game is only playable in Windows, but I do hope to package a Linux and Mac OS version eventually.

This is a alpha demo so there is currently no combat in the game; although the player can die. As I am teaching myself Unreal Engine after work so the updates may be a little slower to roll out. While the options menu currently doesn't work I hope to get this fixed soon!

Thank you so much for playing! Feedback is highly encouraged as long as it is productive.

Credits for the music can be seen via the 'Credits' menu inside the main menu.

Special thanks goes out to:
